What types of claims are covered in a professional indemnity policy?

Professional negligence claims are covered by Professional Indemnity insurance. Claims for wrongful advice or faulty designs are common examples of Professional Indemnity claims.  A frequent example is an architect, who makes a mistake on a building plan, resulting in a property being built incorrectly or in the wrong place.  Another example is a financial consultant, giving incorrect advice to one of their clients, which leads to them suffering a financial loss.
